Patti J. Shock, CPCE, CHT, CGSP

Patti is a Professor Emeritus from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she retired after 25 years in 2013. She chaired the UNLV Tourism & Convention Administration Department for 18 years. Prior to that, she chaired the Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration Department at Georgia State University in Atlanta for 10 years.

She currently teaches part time as an adjunct professor at both UNLV and FIU.  In addition, she is the Academic Consultant for the International School of Hospitality, based in Las Vegas.

She has co-authored 5 books on catering and one on restaurant marketing. She wrote the F&B Chapters for several industry association books.  She has been a frequent speaker at industry meetings and on webinars. She blogs for Cvent.

She holds the following certifications:  CPCE (Certified Professional Catering Executive), CHT (Certified Hospitality Trainer), and, CGSP (Certified Guest Service Professional.

She has received many awards and honors over the years.  Most recently, she was named the first NACE Industry ICON in 2014 by the National Association of Catering & Events, and she was a 2014 inductee into the Convention Industry Council Hall of Leaders.
