I attended the Farmer’s Table event, and I was blown away. My mother and I were both floored by the service and quality of everything from the food to the presentation. The price is small for what you will experience, and my mother and I were planning out when we could come back and who we could bring to share this wonderful event with. I definitely recommend it to everyone, and I can’t wait to go back!

The restaurant was beautiful. I appreciated the modern tile accents and dark wood finishes. The music was soft, classical and calming. We did notice, though, that the table sat quite low and we were not able to cross our legs underneath. ( …just an observation).We were greeted by a lovely young lady, Jasmine, who was well prepared and very sweet. The meal was fantastic! The salad was colorful and tasty. It reflected local flavors while being light and refreshing. The fish was incredible, the detail in preparation made the meal feel like a piece of art, as well as being delicious. The desert looked like a Mayan temple…very clever and pretty. Our only regret was not having enough room to finish it! My personal favorite was the watermelon cocktail. It was so light and refreshing…perfect for the middle of the day. We were so impressed that we took photos of every course. It was also interesting to observe the kitchen activities on the closed circuit tv. For special occasions, live music might be a wonderful addition. I know FIU has a strong jazz music dept. I had the pleasure of dining on Feb.13th for the Le Couteau Rouge themed lunch for an early Valentine’s day lunch for my partner and I. The warm camenbert with wild mushroom was a great way to open our palates and appetite! I love cheese, the camenbert was soft and creamy and not runny. The only note on the appetizer was that one baguette was warm and the other was cold and stale. For the main course, I had the seared cod with spicey mussel aioli which was cooked perfectly and the aioli was a nice compliment that did not overpower. The potatoes were ok. The purple baby carrots I had never tried before and loved them, so did my partner (she’s quite a picky eater), she also devoured her lemon and garlic chicken fricassee. The dessert was really the highlight of the meal, butterscotch creme brulee with a side of caramel corn, to die for! It was appealing to the eye, very well presented with a chocolate powdered heart and three drops of strawberry icing. The service wasn’t up to fine dining standards, a few hiccups with service, but the food was tasty and flavorable. I would definitely be back because the price is a steal!

when it comes to the quality and presentation of the food we have nothing to complain about. The food was excellent for culinary students that are in training they really did a great job. There were couple o things we didnt like is that the hosts took a long time to find a table to seat us. As far as the server we think they should have more training as far as knowing what is on the menu before the restaurant open and to always make sure to keep coming back and check up on their customers. But beside that we think they did tried there best and they showed that they are willing to work at getting better.

I had the opportunity to dine at FIU restaurant for the Valentine dinner. I personally think that the setting was great. The food was excellent. Service needs to be work on. Couple servers including hosts were working around looking that they had no clue on what to do next. But beside that I had a great experience.

I attended the Fiu dining event on Feb 13, 2014, the french themed one. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. The only thing I would comment on is that the specialty drink should have been colder and it was really sweet. Also, I brought a friend and she really enjoyed herself. The service as well as the food at Le Couteau Rouge was amazing. I really enjoyed every part of the meal –especially the dessert. I was unsure of how the popcorn would tie into anything but once I tried it, I could NOT get enough! More than anything, I felt that the students really captured that romantic French feel that they were aiming for. I am definitely coming back for another event!

Upon entering, I could already feel that the theme of the event was a French day out and the food completely reflected that. The appetizer was unexpected but very well put together. Also, even though I don’t really care for fish, I found that it was really good and was able to actually enjoy a fish dish. And the best part was the desert, which tied sweet and salty flavors together and was a pleasant surprise.

The luncheon that I participated in seemed to be successful. The ambience was very romantic which went well with the theme of the event, and the date. The food was good, and well presented, although the appetizer was cold and the wine needed to be aired the entrée and dessert were delicious and well worth it. The pink lemonade was really good and refreshing and the servers did a very impressive job with waiting the tables, they were attentive to the tables and the students and people that attended the event. Looking forward to doing this next food production class.

The lunch was great! Really a great experience. After arriving, we were seated with two people who we hadn’t yet met. They were very nice and didn’t eat any of our food so that was nice. We were given quick, friendly service throughout the entire experience. The food was hot and delicious. In addition the food presentation was very nice and consistent throughout the table. Afterwards we were introduced to the group. I felt like I was actually in a restaurant, with friends and family all around me.

First of all I just want to say that this was an spectacular event! It was my first time attending a dining event at FIU and I must say that I enjoyed every detail of it. Everyone did a great job from accommodating guests to the food and plate presentation. The food had a great taste to it. The chilled creamy potato soup had great flavor and great plate presentation. The meat of the entrée was very well seasoned and the caramelized onions had a nice sweet flavor. The cabbage that was served with the entrée was delicious. The Charlotte Russe dessert was amazing. The Bavarian cream filling had a good taste of sweetness to it. The only exception is the lady fingers which could have been more crispier but everything else was good. It was definitely an enjoyable afternoon and our waitress Yessica did an amazing job in taking care of us at the table. I would definitely attend another event at the restaurant.

I went to the Korean event and I took my boyfriend and a friend. We were all blown away by how delicious the food was. The presentation of each dish was absolutely beautiful. Our waiter was very friendly and made the experience so pleasant. The appetizer was gyoza which was perfect. I had the beef entree which was well done and had so much flavor. The dessert was a green tea panna cota which I had never tried before, but was my favorite dish of the whole event. Truly a great experience! I would recommend anyone to go!

The – SINGSING – Korean day theme lunch on June 14, 2014 was delightful. The quality and overall presentation of the food was very well put together. From the minute I walked through the door I felt the warmth welcome all the way to my seat. The server was really professional, really took the time to explain everything. The “Goon Mandu” aka beef dumplings was very crispy and cooked to perfection. To go along with the appetizer three additional traditional condiments were served: the Kimchi (fermented radish and carrots), bean sprout salad and candied sweet potato. The kimchi was phenomenal. The highlight of the meal was the Steamed ginger infused Sea Bass served with a nice glass of White wine. By this point all I can taste is the different flavors and spice of ginger, soy, and the caramelization from the sweet potato. It was very invigorating! For dessert, a very unique milk pudding was served with green tea was served called the “Green tea Panna Cotta”. It came with a little toast made out of sesame seeds topped it off with mixed berry sauce. It was also unique and delicious. I can’t wait for next event. It was a great way to take a break from studying while enjoying a nice cooked meal. I would recommend it to everyone I know. Luciana (FSS323)

A guest and myself attended the conflicting countries event in June; we found it to be an exciting and entertaining experience. Our server Manuela was funny and attentive. The food was innovative , especially the green tea dessert. My favorite part was the gyoza appetizer which was absolutely delicious.

I attended the event on June 7th. First of all, I really the décor of the restaurant, it was beautiful. I like the red color of the decoration, it makes the moment romantic. I enjoy the music. The menu was excellent. The appetizer was well presented, thus I didn’t really enjoy because I expected it to be hot but it was chilled enough as it was said on the menu. The entrée was delicious, the meat was well cooked. Hmmm, so yummy! My favorite part was the dessert, the lady finger. I still have the taste as I’m writing the comment. Overall the event was fantastic. I strongly believe that those students are well prepared to go out there and explode the world with the great skill of food service. I am more than ready for an upcoming event. Thanks
